Discover Your Own Artistic “Light,” and Take Your Painting to a New Level
Space is limited to 10 participants
Register NowDo you have a little voice inside your head that says you could never make “good” art? Do you crave to make a beautiful painting but just don’t quite know how to go about doing it?
In this weekend workshop, award-winning artist Dawn Boyer will show you how to approach a painting with a sense of play and intention. She’ll teach you techniques to cast out fear and self-doubt, and show you how to tap into the deep-down, intuitive, joyful place inside that allows you to express yourself fully and create art that is uniquely you. You’ll learn how to quiet your critical voice and move beyond your self-imposed limitations.
During the first day, we’ll focus on letting go of any expectations or outcome. Dawn will give a demo of her process and provide exercises that catapult you into your own productivity and appreciation. She’ll also encourage you to make mistakes and then wipe them out in order to create room for paintings that surprise and delight you. At the end of the day, we’ll look at the intuitive first layers we create, and we’ll explore how to uncover what they’re trying to tell us.
The second day, Dawn will continue with her demo and illustrate how to focus on bringing that initial, intuitive painting to a deeper, more meaningful place. She will begin with instruction on traditional artistic techniques such as composition, value, color, temperature, line, and shape, and help you bring your own vision to life as you add further layers to your painting. Throughout the course of the day, Dawn will work with you individually to help guide you in the use of those techniques.
At the end of the workshop, participants will have at least one painting to take home with them.
In this workshop, you’ll discover how to:
- Uncover your own unique way of expressing yourself
- Enjoy inspiring demonstrations and put them to use in your work
- Work with composition, value, temperature, shape, line and color to bring the best out in your painting
- Coax hints of reality from abstraction
- Purposefully use value and color for emotional emphasis
- “Let go,” paint intuitively, and see what your subconscious is trying to tell you
- Mix and effectively use colored neutrals
- Develop more confidence
- Embrace vulnerability
- Employ curiosity
- Discover creative courage
- Appreciate what only you have to offer
